Verse and prayer of the day: Be alert… and resist…
1 Peter 5:8-9 NIV
Be alert… Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
Lord God, as we think of Your Son Jesus going to the Cross, dying there and then being seen and known resurrected, we thank You again for what He has done for us.
We thank You, Holy God, that we ordinary and unqualified people can know You and be one with You through Jesus.
We thank You that our “enemy the devil who prowls around like a roaring lion” may have a voice and may still be able to suggest, but his power has been broken. On the Cross. By the bloodshed, precious blood.
To that voice we say, together with You, “Be silent!” and to the fear we say, together with You, “We know and trust God’s love!
May we be filled with the confident expectation of hope in You, togetherness with You and partnership in Your purpose, as we stand against the threat of Coronovirus illness and join in protecting those most at risk.
We especially bless, with Your love and peace, those who are the most exposed and vulnerable – those with health and age issues and those working in close proximity.
We pray for Your kingdom to come on our world, for Your greater purpose to unfold, and for many who are estranged from You to turn and find joy and peace in You at this time. For the glory of Jesus, Amen.
