As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.
James 5:11 NIV
Summary
The trials of life are part of life — and the story of Job is how he kept on keeping on, declaring His trust in God, and being ridiculed for it. Jesus faced constant opposition; following Him makes us a target, too, but perseverance is holding on to His victory, which we also share.
Prayer
Lord, we pray “lead us not into the time of trial”
but we know that handling tests of the resilience of our faith
are like negotiating potholes along the journey of life.
Give us the unshakeable trust in You
that Job spoke out against his unhelpful friends,
and the joy of knowing You, that is our strength.
May Your Holy Spirit give us the overcoming words
and remind us of the Scriptures to use,
as Jesus did in His desert testing time.
We praise You for Your goodness, greatness, majesty —
and Your compassion and mercy.
Thank You for holding us in Your love.
Amen.
