God’s fundamental promise
The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” –
Deuteronomy 31:8 NIV
Summary
If we can turn to God and call Him “Lord” we have His covenanted promise to be with us and going ahead of us. With Him we don’t need to be afraid. The unknown to us, is not unknown to Him.
Prayer
Father, I turn to you now, submitting by life and my needs to You now,
even though I know that in myself I am not worthy of Your attention,
let alone protection.
Thank You for Jesus and what He has done for me
and my sin-defiled life,
inviting me to know You
and come under Your promises.
Thank You for going ahead of me, being with me,
promising Your commitment to me.
I know You are with me and will not fail me or abandon me.
And so I can join with You in saying ’no’ to the fears
that keep trying to take over my thought life.
Instead, I consider Your might, majesty, sovereignty over all events —
and Your great compassion and mercy shown towards me in sending Your Son, Jesus.
In whom I turn to You and pray this. Amen
