Asking sets up the right relationship
Verse
“LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and He saved them from their distress. He sent out His word and healed them, snatching them from the door of death. Let them praise the LORD for His great love and for the wonderful things He has done for them.
— Psalm 107:19-21 NLT
Summary
Asking God — and how we ask God — is an expression of our relationship with Him. He wants the relationship with us, and He wants us know we can rely on Him. So we ask Him to snatch us from the threat of death — and praise Him for His love and goodness active in saving us.
Prayer
Lord God Almighty, thank You so much we can come to You through knowing Jesus,
and know You in Your generosity.
We don’t assume anything.
We are not entitled to anything.
You have done it all for us, and because of Your friendship alone,
we can ask: “Save us from Covid and from all other attacks at this time.
You are always active in salvation — save us, and our friends and neighbours, we pray.
We praise You for Your greatness, goodness — and gracious love,
shown especially in the life and death or Your Son, Jesus,
in whom we pray. Amen.
